Los Angeles, California Jun 11, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - GC Films is proud to announce that Korean actor Theo Jang, widely recognized by international audiences from Netflixs global sensation Singles Inferno, has been cast in the upcoming romantic comedy Pillow Armor. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Clayton Guiltner and written by Nicholas Ewing, the film marks Jangs first feature film role in the United States.

Jang plays Scott, the charming yet emotionally aloof ex-boyfriend who crashes a Thanksgiving holiday, throwing the main characters carefully arranged plans into chaos. Scott is the epitome of the "perfect-on-paper" manhe remembers anniversaries but never really listens, always self-assured with a condescending edge that keeps people guessing.

I kept thinking, How did they come up with such great dialogue and such a cool character? Its honestly such a joy to be part of this brilliant crew, and Im looking forward to creating some amazing scenes together.

Director Clayton Guiltner shared his excitement about the casting: Theo brought a confidence and love-to-hate quality to Scott during the auditions, and it was hard to see anyone else in the role. Im excited to get a chance to work with Theo on his first U.S. feature film role.

Jang began his entertainment career in South Korea as an actor and model, appearing in commercials, fashion campaigns, and K-dramas. He gained national attention with recurring roles in the 2020 melodrama A Man in a Veil and the 2021 historical drama The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won. In 2024, he starred in the Malaysian crime thriller Oppa, where he portrayed an online romance scammer. The role earned him the Best Foreign Language Film Actor award at the 2024 Asia International Film Festival in Macau, while the film won Best Malaysian Film.

Pillow Armor follows Marcus, an agoraphobic recluse who agrees to pose as his friends fiancée for Thanksgivingon the condition she can coax him out of the house in just two weeks. But when her ex-boyfriend Scott unexpectedly arrives for the holiday, Marcus must decide whether to retreat into the safety of his comfort zone, or risk everything for love without his "pillow armor." At its core, the film explores mental health with warmth and honesty, using humor and heart to destigmatize emotional struggles and highlight the quiet courage it takes to connect.

The film was written and will also star Nicholas Ewing as Marcus. Ewing, whose previous work includes the short Life Is Scripted, brings a unique blend of emotional honesty and comedic timing to the role. Joining the cast is Natalia Varni as Ellie, the romantic lead and girlfriend of Jangs character, Scott. Wyatt Hinz, who previously worked with Guiltner in the television pilot Velvet Hineys House Party, plays the funny and clueless boyfriend of Jessica, portrayed by Laura Fodera. Steve Connor, featured in Guiltners last film Hopes Hollywood Christmas, returns to play Ellies by-the-book accountant father. Michael Sullivan also joins the ensemble as the local mailman and a close friend of Marcus.
